Ads can be run in as many regions as you have money for. Larger regions cost more money to run ads in than smaller regions.

The higher the creation cost, the more likely the ad is to be Highly Successful, but the longer the ad will take to make. Successful ads have a base Power of 1, but Highly Successful ads have a base Power of 3. Power is modified by a Charisma bonus (possible +1 (not for attack ads); the chance of a Charisma bonus is 5% times your Charisma attribute), attribute/plank position (bonus/penalty), attack ad (+1), and + for any theme bonus (if the issue the ad is about is in your theme).
If you do not delete the ad before finishing your turn, then the cost to make the ad will be taken out of your funds, and the ad will begin being made. Ads can be delayed, in which case something happened at the ad agency and the ad will take several more days to complete than scheduled.

Q: Playing my first game, and when I moved from the primaries to the general election, I noticed the turns changed from one week to one day. OK. CP’s adjusted accordingly, as well as fund raising and cost of activities, all adjusted accordingly. However, the cost of ads I had been running continued to be the same cost per day as they were per week prior to the general election. Is this intentional, and if so why?
A: Ads are run 1/7th the amount during primaries, even though they are on a weekly basis, as they are during the general election. Therefore, the actual amount of advertising is the same in the primaries and general election, and so the cost is the same.
