Momentum gives the candidate a chance to gain an extra percentage every turn in that region.
For example:
- A +8 momentum in a region gives the candidate an 80% chance of gaining 0.5%.
- A +11 momentum gives the candidate an 100% chance of gaining 0.5%, and a 10% chance of gaining an additional +0.5%.
- A –8 momentum means the candidate has an 80% chance of losing 0.5%.
Momentum can be broken down by issue. For example, the War on Terror issue might give the player +4 momentum, the Business Tax issue might give another +3, and the Iraq issue might give –2, for a net total of 4 + 3 – 2 = +5 momentum for that region. Momentum will decay on its own, moving one point every few turns back to 0.
The national momentum displayed is an average of all the regional momenta. This average determines whether a candidate has the Big Mo’ or HQ morale bonuses/penalties.
